An exceptional historical piece. It has a rainbow motif. A sequence of rods that Livio loved to place in sculptures where they play with the lens effect of the other parts in light solid wood. The absolute control of light refraction is clearly visible on this piece. I tried to represent it with several photos. The group of parallel colors is interrupted by an organic line of black. It is reminiscent of the use of black in Joan Miro’s abstract paintings. There is a spherical piece added where the flap folds. That sphere has a glass bubble inside which enhances the play of light, an intuition that the artist will expand in his sculptures. As I have always said, Livio is the only artist who creates by subtracting light. Signed Seguso AV under the sphere, where he usually signed his pieces. A personal note: I had a rainbow record by Lino Tagliapietra and the signature was placed right in the center of the record and a very long signature. (Tagliapietra Angelin Effetre International 1983 Murano for Ogetti Miami) as everyone wanted to be mentioned! Livy would never have ruined the clear part of a sculpture to show the signature through his magical lenses. It’s incredible, while taking the photos I realized that the signature is positioned in the only place on the bowl where it is not detected by refraction from any viewing angle.
