A wonderful and most decorative French 19th century patinated Cast Iron fountain, signed Salin Fondeur. The two level fountain is raised on a hexagon base with Coeur de Rai designs below reeded panels of rosettes and cat tails. Above is a baluster shaped fut with large scrolled acanthus leaves flanking chandelles and fluted designs. The hexagon shaped bowl has gadroon shapes below and above additional reeded panels with rosettes. At the top stands a charming cherub wrapped in a classical garment with his two hands holding a circular scalloped bowl. The water jets out of the top bowl and falls into the lower bowl to then fall into the base. The fountain retains its original finish but it can easily be changed to your desired colored finish.
